I udstillingen Botanical Transformations viser Miriam H Nielsen en række nye montageværker udført i serigrafi og fotografisk print.

Montagerne bygges op gennem hendes intuitive arbejdsproces og folder sig ud sig i motiver, der balancerer mellem referentialitet og abstraktion. Farveelementer tilføres i form af serigrafi og digital tegning. Blikket ledes i forskellige retninger, når elementer af lethed, tyngde og bevægelse kombineres i og på tværs af værker.

Miriam H Nielsen er optaget af relationen mellem det botaniske og det menneskeskabte og kombinerer motivfragmenter af planter med manipulationer af byrum og menneskelig form.

I værkerne udforsker hun, hvad der skal til, for at et motiv bliver til en abstraktion, og hvor meget hun kan fordreje, manipulere og ændre for at opnå en ny genkendelighed i et nyt visuelt territorium.

Gennem sin praksis undersøger hun materialiteten i den naturlige og menneskeskabte verden, og det, der ligger lige under overfladen, for at invitere beskueren til indlevelse og fordybelse.

Colour constellations embracing botanical form, grass and wig-hair twisted in aluminium, plant as ornament.

In the exhibition Botanical Transformations Miriam H Nielsen shows a series of new silkscreen and photographic print works.

The montages are built up through her intuitive work process expressing motifs that balance between referentiality and abstraction. Colour elements are added in the form of silkscreen print and digital drawing. The viewpoints become multifaceted as light, gravity and movement are combined within and across works.

Miriam H Nielsen is preoccupied with the idea of the botanical in relation to the human-made and combines fragments of images of plants with manipulations of urban spaces and human form.

In the works, she explores transitions from motif to abstraction, and how much she can distort, manipulate and twist these ideas to achieve a new significance – a new visual territory.

Through this practice she examines the materiality of the natural and the human-made world around us, and that which lies just below the surface, inviting the viewer for immersion and contemplation.
